Dark rosewood posses the mellow qualities of the rosewood, yet when properly dried and paired with the correct membrane, produces a very clear sensitive tone sought after by many traditional erhu players.<P><P>

Its crystal clear high registers are resonant and balanced with the mellow midtones, and coupled with the traditional sweet tone, this erhu is often referred to as that of the "Aged Rosewood", commonly sold for 3 times the listed price, if it is well made.<P><P>

The key to making one is simple, though the process is tedious. Every piece and slab of material is weighed, measured and carefully selected to have a perfect match with the specific membrane, and thus we can achieve the best resonances possible in every instrument.
