Description
The "viola" of the Chinese String Section, the Zhonghu, has always been popular as a solo instrument, playing lush Mongolian melodies and heart wrenching solo cadenzas. As a section in the orchestra howeverm it has always been lacking in depth and volume. Reason: Zhonghus are often made with the cheapest possible materials and they are the "viola" section (similar to "viola jokes" in the western orchestras). The skin thickness is often lacking and hardly uniformed in thickness, even within a piece of python skin itself.
EcoErhu Zhonghu ensures that the thinnest portion is at 0.30mm, and the middle section is 0.38-0.42mm. Just right for the full resonance of the isntrument. Using dense but light Thai Rosewood, the entire instrument sounds uniformly when played and hence, increased the sensitvity and the ease of control of the Zhonghu.
